Our Story

We’re Andrew & Mikayla

We’re missionaries serving with Youth With A Mission (YWAM / JuCUM), and over time God has been leading us toward Lima, Peru, with a growing vision for a healthy training community rooted in discipleship, joy, and partnership with local churches.

How God Led Us Here

Before stepping into missions, we spent years in our professional careers—Andrew in platform engineering and Mikayla as a physical therapist. During that season, God began to draw us into something deeper. What started as a desire to live as everyday missionaries gradually became a clear call to step into full-time missions.

In 2022, we joined YWAM and completed a Discipleship Training School (DTS). That season marked a real shift for us. We learned to hear God’s voice more clearly, to love His Word more deeply, and to live in intentional Christian community.

Since then, we’ve had the privilege of staffing and leading DTS programs in Latin America, serving in places like Cartagena and Lima. Along the way, we’ve seen how healthy discipleship communities can bring renewal, restore joy, and strengthen local churches.

Through these experiences, God has been shaping not only what we do, but how we live—teaching us to move at His pace, to value relationships deeply, and to build with Him rather than rush ahead of Him.

At the same time, He has been gently leading us toward a specific place and people, forming in us a clear sense of calling to Lima.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. — Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

Why Lima?

While serving in Peru, we found ourselves deeply drawn to the people, the churches, and the young leaders God is raising up here.

Lima is a city where cultures meet—a place of influence, movement, and opportunity. It connects Peru to the nations, and the nations to Peru.

Over time, what began as appreciation grew into a clear sense of calling.

We felt God inviting us to stay—not just to pass through, but to plant ourselves here. To learn the language, to build real friendships, and to serve in humility alongside what He is already doing in the local church.

Over time, that sense of calling began to take shape into something more.

What Is YWAM Lima?

Out of this journey, a clearer vision began to take shape.

That vision is becoming YWAM Lima—a developing training community.

Our prayer is to form a small, healthy team and, in God’s timing, launch a Discipleship Training School here in Lima.

We long to create a place where people can:

  • encounter Jesus in a real and personal way
  • grow in joy, identity, and relational maturity
  • be equipped to serve both locally and among the nations

We are building slowly—prioritizing prayer, relationships, and alignment with local churches and YWAM leaders.
