Vision & Values

We believe God is inviting us to help cultivate a YWAM community in Lima that reflects His presence, forms joyful disciples, and sends laborers to Peru and the nations.

Lima is a city of influence, diversity, and deep spiritual hunger. We believe God desires to plant a community here that does more than run programs—a people rooted in His Word, formed in His presence, and sent with His heart.

Our hope is to see a community take shape in Lima that becomes a living expression of the Kingdom: a people who know God deeply, live in authentic community, and carry His presence wherever they go.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. — Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV)

The beginning: God has seen, God hears

This vision did not begin with strategy. It began with God’s heart.

For years, we have prayed that God would break our hearts for the things that break His. As we have listened, He has shown us both the beauty and brokenness of Lima—a city alive with creativity and resilience, yet marked by spiritual famine, exploitation, injustice, and lost potential.

We sensed that God was not only showing us problems, but inviting us into His response: to help cultivate a community of discipleship, Bible engagement, and sending in a city that can reach Peru and the nations.

We do not see this as a closed plan. We hold it with humility and openness, as a living vision that must keep growing in obedience, shared discernment, and alignment with God’s voice.

What we are building

We are not just building a ministry—we are building a way of life together.

We are seeking to cultivate a presence-centered, Word-anchored YWAM community in Lima: a place where discipleship is lived, not only taught; where relationships are shaped by covenant love; and where people are formed to carry the gospel into every sphere of society.

This includes training environments like Discipleship Training Schools, Bible engagement through small groups and Scripture-centered ministry, partnership with local churches, and a long-term vision for sending laborers from Lima into Peru and beyond.

We believe Lima is not only a place of need, but a strategic crossroads—a city where disciples can be formed and sent outward to the least-reached places of the world.

The kind of people we are becoming

Before anything is built outwardly, God is forming something inwardly.

We are seeking to become a people who listen for God’s voice, love with covenant faithfulness, make Jesus visible in everyday life, grow in wholeness, and go where He sends.

These values are not just ideas we admire. They are the kind of life we want to practice together—shaping our rhythms, relationships, leadership, and mission.

Our guiding values

These five Hebrew words summarize biblical themes that shape our community life. They are not new ideas—they are ways we remember God’s heart in Scripture and practice it together.

שמע

Shema

We listen before we lead

Shema illustration
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. — Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)

Shema reminds us that leadership begins with listening—first to God, then to one another. Obedience flows from attention, and guidance grows through discernment.

We refuse to build at the speed of urgency—we build at the pace of God’s voice.

This means we pause for prayer, integrate reflection into decisions, and shape our schedules and culture around attentiveness to what the Holy Spirit is already doing. When He speaks, we respond. When He moves, we follow.

We want to build from God’s voice—not our own momentum.

חסד

Hesed

We choose covenant over convenience

Hesed illustration
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. — Psalm 136:1 (NIV)

Hesed describes faithful, steadfast love that endures regardless of circumstances. It is relational and covenantal—showing up even when it is inconvenient.

We choose to stay, to love, and to remain—especially when it would be easier to leave.

In our community, hesed shapes relationships, conflict resolution, mentoring, and support. We do not build on preference or convenience, but on commitment.

We want to be marked not by fleeting enthusiasm, but by dependable love that builds trust, belonging, and long-term fruitfulness.

Ot

We make Jesus visible

Ot illustration
You are the light of the world. — Matthew 5:14 (NIV)

Ot means sign or visible mark. It reminds us that all we do should point to Jesus, making His life, love, and Kingdom tangible in words, deeds, and spaces.

Our lives, our community, and our spaces should make Jesus visible—not ourselves.

Our hospitality, teaching, service, and shared rhythms carry the intention of making Him known. We do not want to build something impressive—we want to live something that reflects Him.

We want our community life to be a visible sign of God’s faithfulness, not a monument to our effort.

שלום

Shalom

We grow whole, not just busy

Shalom illustration
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. — John 10:10 (NIV)

Shalom is more than peace—it is wholeness in God, in relationship, and in purpose.

We refuse to build a busy community—we are committed to becoming a whole one.

We do not want to form people defined by activity, but by rhythms that nurture spiritual, emotional, and relational health.

In practice, this means valuing Sabbath, reflection, reconciliation, celebration, and hospitality. We create space for God’s presence to transform people—not just their schedules.

שליחות

Shlichut

We go because He came

Shlichut illustration
As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. — John 20:21 (NIV)

Shlichut names our identity as a sent people. Jesus came to reveal the Father’s heart—and we follow Him by going to those who have not yet heard.

We are not just gathering people—we are sending them.

This shapes the way we train, disciple, and release people. From Lima, we long to see Peruvians and internationals formed in God’s Word, alive in His presence, and sent into Peru, Latin America, and the least-reached places of the world.

Mission is not an activity we add—it is the direction of our lives.

Our posture

Right now we are in a season of prayer, listening, language learning, and relationship building.

Rather than launching quickly, we are committed to building patiently—seeking unity with churches in Lima, receiving wisdom from mentors, and learning how to align our pace with God’s timing.

We believe lasting work in a city is built through trust, faithfulness, and love over time. Our desire is not to move forward with haste, but with deep roots in the presence of God, in community, and in obedience to His Word.

We would be honored to walk together with churches, friends, and co-laborers in Lima as God builds this work.

Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. — Psalm 127:1 (NIV)
